First and foremost, it’s important to cultivate a positive mindset. One way to do this is by focusing on the progress you’ve made throughout the year, rather than fixating on any perceived shortcomings or weaknesses. Additionally, try to frame the STAAR test as an opportunity rather than a threat. You have the chance to show off everything you’ve learned and demonstrate your skills and knowledge.


Of course, relaxation and self-care play a crucial role in helping students feel prepared and focused. Whether it’s getting a good night’s sleep, eating a nourishing breakfast, or engaging in calming activities like meditation or yoga, taking care of your physical and mental health can help you feel more centered and ready to tackle the STAAR test.

  • Utilize the test-taking strategies you’ve learned in class, such as underlining keywords or using the process of elimination.
  • If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, stop and take a few deep breaths to refocus.
  • Remember that you’ve put in the hard work and preparation, and trust in your own abilities to succeed. Don’t rush!
