Balancing planning, staff meetings, intervention paperwork, grading, and now the added pressure of helping your students pass the STAAR test can be a lot to handle.
Maybe you’re new to a tested grade level and struggling to create a test prep plan and understand the STAAR test. Or perhaps your district provides little to no STAAR test resources, making it even more challenging.
I’ve been in your shoes, feeling overwhelmed, overworked, and constantly searching for the perfect activity to help my students succeed. I know firsthand that this pace is unsustainable, and something needs to change.
Let me be your guide and support system. As a former teacher, I understand the struggle.
I used to believe that teaching reading skills alone would be enough for my students to succeed on testing day…
…until I realized that testing format and vocabulary more often stood in the way.
I also thought dedicating a few weeks to STAAR boot camp in April would prepare my students…
…until I discovered consistent exposure to test-like questions throughout the year yields greater results.
That’s when I created Custom Classroom by Angela.
I wanted to help even more students, teachers, and parents by providing resources that:
So, let me help you navigate the world of test prep without the stress. Together, we can overcome the hurdles and ensure that every student has the tools they need to shine on high-stakes tests.
Hey there! I’m Angela, a proud Texan who actually loves hot weather. Let me tell you about my rather unusual journey as a teacher. I’ve taught in six different schools across three districts and two states. My husband’s job in sports kept us on the move, and I constantly had to adapt to the different resources and support systems offered to teachers in each new place.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was getting my students ready for a daunting end-of-year test. With no consistent materials or guidance, I had to figure out a way to help them succeed. Drawing on my years of experience, I learned to quickly adapt to each new setting, finding common ground and honing in on what my students needed to know to conquer that test.
So, I channeled all my experiences and knowledge to develop quick and easy test prep strategies to show my students what to expect, how to handle the test, decode the vocabulary, and be smarter than the test. And guess what? It worked!
I’ll never forget the moment one of my 8th graders walked into my classroom in tears after we received the scores. They had never passed before, and they never thought they could. But with hard work and the right tools, they did it. That’s when I knew I couldn’t stop there.
Fast forward a few years, I became a stay-at-home mom and finally had the time to pursue my dream. I dove headfirst into creating STAAR test prep materials, and I haven’t looked back since.
Let me help you and your students believe in their capabilities and equip them with the tools they need to make their dreams come true.
I love getting to know teachers and learning how I can help! I’d love to connect with you on social media, here on my blog, or by email.
Or, if you’d rather, feel free to use to reach out to me personally ([email protected]). I love hearing from other teachers!
